How LoRa-Comms collects, uses, and protects your personal information.
Not legal advice. This policy is provided as a plain-language summary of our data practices, written with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) in mind. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer. If you need this for compliance purposes, have it reviewed by a qualified attorney before relying on it.
Effective date: 14 July 2026
LoRa-Comms ("we", "us") operates off-grid LoRa mesh communication networks and this website (lora-comms.co.za). For any privacy question or request, contact us at info@lora-comms.co.za.
We collect information you give us directly: your name and email address when you sign up for an account, sign in, or submit a contact, booking, waitlist, or partnership form; your account role and activity within the site; and any message content you send us. We also collect limited technical information automatically, such as IP address and browser type, via our hosting and authentication providers, for security and fraud-prevention purposes.
We do not knowingly collect payment card details, government ID numbers, or health information through this website.
We use your information to create and manage your account, verify your email address, respond to enquiries and bookings, operate the route/coverage planner tool, maintain the security of the site (including rate-limiting and fraud prevention), and communicate with you about the services you've requested.
We use third-party service providers to operate this site, and your information may pass through their systems as a normal part of that service: Supabase (authentication and database hosting), Netlify (site hosting and form submissions), and mapping providers (OpenStreetMap, OpenTopoMap, CARTO, and Esri/ArcGIS) for the route planner's map tiles and place search — these receive only the map/location data needed to render the map, not your account details. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Accounts are assigned a role (member, admin, head admin, or founder). Certain operational data — such as detailed node-count planning estimates — is restricted to admin-level accounts and above. Only Founder-level accounts can change another user's role, and role changes are logged.
We use your browser's local storage to keep you signed in and to remember basic site preferences. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
We retain account and profile information for as long as your account is active, and form submissions for as long as reasonably needed to respond to and record the enquiry. You can request deletion at any time (see Section 9).
We apply reasonable technical safeguards, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), row-level access controls on our database, hardened authentication settings, and rate limiting on sign-up and sign-in. No online system can be guaranteed 100% secure, but we work to keep this one tightly locked down.
Under POPIA, you have the right to ask us what personal information we hold about you, to request correction of inaccurate information, to request deletion of your information (subject to any legal obligation we have to keep it), and to object to certain uses of your information. To exercise any of these rights, email info@lora-comms.co.za.
This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children without appropriate consent.
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above.
